Needing a quick Valentine's inspired activity to try out with your students?! This activity promotes literacy and a little friendly competition. I love word wheels and so do kids (and adults too honestly). Word wheels are great for literacy centers, morning meeting activities, and can even be used in many other ways. Here's how it works:
Make as many words as possible in 5 minutes
Figure out the 9-letter mystery word (spoiler alert: it's Valentine)
I usually give a prize to the student who made the most words and to the student who found the mystery word first.
Pro tip: Play a love song while they are working
