I was wandering the aisles of Target as one usually does when I stumbled upon this book. I was already excited that it was written by the same author as "Out of My Mind", but when I read the back I was even more interested in this find. Blended is about a young girl named Isabella whose parents are getting divorced. So many of my students will be able to see themselves in this book and I can't wait to share it with them. Blended tackles a lot of topics my kids face including divorce, being biracial, identity issues, and tons more. The story is told in first person and I love hearing the events told from an 11 year old lens. When I think back on my class this year I can think of so many students who would've reached for this book and I wish I had it for them sooner. When I am finished reading this one you can definitely expect some classroom content from me to go along with it because I just love it that much :)
